Catholic CSO Demands Update On Eurobond

The Civil Society For Poverty Reduction –CSPR- has asked government to update the nation on progress made on refinancing the $750 Million Eurobond.

In 2018, a Turkish company expressed interest in refinancing Zambia’s $750 Million Eurobond which is falling due in 2022.

CSPR Program Coordinator Chimuka Nachibinga says transparency on potential debt refinancers is critical for Zambia as it helps in debt management and sustainability.

Nachibinga says with the current prevailing economic conditions, government must open up and reveal how the deal went with the Turkish firm to receive suitable advice from stakeholders.
