UPND Sympathizer Opposes Debt Contraction For FTJ Varsity

| | ,

A UPND aligned public policy analyst Choolwe Beyani says contracting new debt on the pretext of completing a university is highly questionable especially that Zambia’s external debt at $11.2 billion is unsustainable

Reacting to government’s request to the Chinese government to expedite the disbursement of the loan to facilitate the speedy completion of the FTJ Chiluba University in Mansa, Dr Beyani says completion of an institution is not a priority for Zambia currently.

Dr Beyani is urging government to instead channel any further funding towards upgrading the current research centres in the country such as at the university of Zambia and Copperbelt University.

Zambia currently has eight state universities with UNZA and CBU still the flag-carriers and elite destination for school leavers.
