Mealie Meal Shortage Hits Mufulira

| |

A shortage of mealie meal has hit Mufulira Town on the Copperbelt.

Residents have been lining up to buy the commodity at Mataba Milling Depot at 140 kwacha per 25 kilogram bag.

Government has repeatedly claimed the shortage is artificial, blaming smugglers and some businessmen that are allegedly hording maize.

Last week, Millers Association of Zambia MAZ President Andrew Chintala urged Government through the FRA to consider offloading more grain to Millers to avert the shortage of mealie-meal
