The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has effected the suspension of licences for six drivers following an order by the Livingstone High Court.
The court convicted and ordered the suspension of driving licences of 6 drivers of the six drivers for six to 12 months.
This is according to a statement issued yesterday by RTSA head of public relations Fedrick Mubanga.
Mr. Mubanga said RTSA is hopeful that the order by the court will act as a deterrent to would-be road traffic offenders and send a strong self-control signal to all motorists not to flout traffic regulations.
The High Court directed RTSA to effect the suspension of driving licences for You Wenzeng, Morton Bwalya, Muyuba Chungulu, Ephraim Siame, Nalishebo Simunji and Sitali Mubiana.
On Friday RTSA revoked the licence of a driver who caused an accident at 10 Miles on Great North Road on Tuesday. Five people died on the spot while 12 others sustained injuries.
