An independent observer has predicted that the ruling Patriotic Front candidate for the Chilubi parliamentary seat, Mulenga Fube, will win the by-election next month.
Yona Musukwa writes that while UPND have picked a formidable candidate in Stanislaus Chele, the ruling party still has a upper hand.
The Chilubi seat fell vacant following the death of PF MP Rosaria Fundanga.
YONA MUSUKWA WRITES
The UPND has made an excellent decision in picking Mr Stanislaus Chele as its candidate in the Chilubi Parliamentary By – Election. With a well oiled campaign machinery Mr Chele can cause an upset in Chilubi.
Mr. Chele is a very well known educationist in Chilubi. In the 2016 General Elections, he stood as an independent candidate, with meagre resources, and did very well, coming second to the late PF Mp Roseria Fundanga, with 5,387 votes.
I know PF have equally picked a very good candidate, Mulenga Fube, a comrade whom I personally know and he is equally well known in Chilubi. With Chilubi being PF stronghold and ruling party, Mulenga Fube has an upper hand.
All things being equal, I foresee a tough election, with a possibility of an upset in the PF stronghold.
