Court Gives Kambwili’s NDC Relief; Opposition Can Breathe

| | ,

The National Democratic Party (NDC) has been granted an order for leave to commence judicial review proceedings over the decision of the registrar of societies to deregister the party for having an inoperative constitution.

Kabwe High Court Judge Isaac Kamwendo in his ruling says the leave will stand as a stay of the decision of the registrar of societies to cancel the party’s certificate.

Last week Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo dismissed an appeal by NDC president Chishimba Kambwili over the deregistration of the party.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Diamond News, NDC Party Chishimba Kambwili says he is happy that the court has ruled in his favour.
