The possibility of reconciling the Felix Mutati and Nevers Mumba factions of the former ruling party, MMD, has flopped before it even takes off.
This follows the refusal by the Nevers Mumba faction to heed calls by some party members for the two to reconcile in the interest of the party as the current leadership impasse between the two has paralyzed the party.
The Nevers Mumba led faction Spokesperson Cephas Mukuka says the party wants justice to prevail over who the legitimate president of the former ruling party is.
Dr. Mukuka says Dr Mumba has lost a lot of money and potential members owing to the squabbles between the two groups.
Meanwhile, the MMD Felix Mutati faction through its National Secretary, Raphael Nakachinda says while the party welcomes calls for reconciliation, it does not expect anything positive from the Nevers Mumba side.
Nakachinda further says the Felix Mutati faction is not surprised with the refusal by the other faction to reconcile.
Dr Mumba and Mr Mutati have waged a legal battle to wrestle power from one another since 2016 when Mr Mutati was elected at a disputed convention in Kabwe in April 2016.
