Socialist Party leader Fred M’membe’s appointment as headman of Mwika village has been revoked.
M’membe’s appointment has been revoked as a result of his continued involvement in active politics contrary to the chiefdom’s regulations.

FRED M’MEMBE’S HEADMANSHIP REVOKED
The Ichinga Royal Establishment of Nkula Chiefdom of Chinsali and Shiwang’andu districts in Muchinga Province, has with immediate effect revoked the appointment of Fred Mmembe as Headman of Mwika village.
And the Ichinga Royal Establishment has warned the public and politicians not to use the name of Senior Chief Nkula and the establishment to gain political popularity.
This is contained in a statement delivered to ZANIS by Ichinga Royal Establishment Secretary Wilson Bwalya.
Mr. Bwalya explained that the decision to revoke Mr. Mmembe’s appointment as headman is due to him breaching one of the conditions.
He said a headman is not supposed to be involved in active politics.
Mr. Bwalya said when the Mwika family presented Mr. Mmembe as their choice to be Headman, he assured Senior Chief Nkula that he had ceased being involved in active politics.
He said Chief Nkula together with the Ichinga Royal Establishment of Nkula Chiefdom are saddened to be associated with supporting the Socialist Party which Mr. Mmembe is linked to.
The Ichinga Royal Establishment has since reaffirmed its commitment to remain non-partisan and ready to work with the Government of the day.
The establishment has further regretted any inconvenience that it’s subjects may have suffered arising from the recent happenings involving Mr. Mmembe and his political activities.
