Illegal Recording Is A Crime Carrying A 5 Year Jail Term

Zambians are being cautioned against falling for the affection of recording illegal telephone conversation.

There has been an outbreak of illegal telephone conversation that are ultimately leaked on social media.

The Zambian law prohibits such conduct.

An extract of the law states;

THOSE DOING ILLEGAL RECORDINGS FACE 5 YEARS IN JAIL

Section 64 of our telecommunication law states:
(1) Except as otherwise provided under
this Act, a person shall not:-
(a) Intercept, attempt to intercept or
procure another person to intercept or
attempt to intercept any
communication; or
(b) use, attempt to use or procure
another person to use or attempt to use
any electronic, mechanical or other
device to intercept any communication.
(2) A person who contravenes subsection
(1)commits an offence and is liable, upon
conviction, to imprisonment for a period
of twenty-five years.
