Patriotic Front Katuba MP hopeful councillor Christopher Shakafuswa’s aspiration may have been dealt a big blow after he appeared in Lusaka Magistrate Court for assault
Mpulungu ward 23 councillor Christopher Shakafuswa has pleaded not guilty to assault.
He is tipped among favourites to challenge the Katuba parliamentary seat which fell vacant following the death of Patricia Mwashingwele.
In this case, Shakafuswa, 37, of Ngwerere is accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
It is alleged that on April 20 this year, Shakafuswa allegedly assaulted Mazili Namwiinga and occasioned her actual bodily harm.
Shakafuswa appeared before magistrate Nthandose Chabala but denied committing the offense.
Before adjourning the case, magistrate Chabala varied Shakafuswa’s bond conditions and asked him to provide two working sureties who will be bound to a sum of K3, 000 in their own recognizance.
This was after the prosecution applied that his bond conditions be varied because he did not provide sureties.
The matter comes up on May 21 for commencement of trial.
