Zambia’s preparations for the 2019 Cosafa Cup will enter the second week on Sunday with stand-in coach Aggrey Chiyangi naming 24 players for a local camp.
Chiyangi has handed Division One Zone One outfit Romeki FC goalie Lufeyo Daka a call up as Zambia’s search for a long term successor to 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winner Kennedy Mweene remains on course.
Team manager Desmond M’ngawa told Fazambia.com that the team will regroup on Sunday in Lusaka for another three day session.
Zambia will join the competition at the quarterfinal stage where they will clash with the winner of Group B, which includes Mozambique, 2015 winners Namibia, Malawi and Seychelles.
The Chipolopolo boys are four-time winners of the COSAFA Cup but have been to 10 finals in all.
Zambia won both of the first two editions of the COSAFA Cup in 1997 and 1998, but it took until 2006 for them to claim their third regional title.
The 2019 Cosafa Cup will be held in Durban from May 25 to June 8.
