According to Buckingham Palace, Meghan has given birth to her first child, a baby boy at 5.26am this morning.
Sussex Royal has released an image on their Instagram page stating that Meghan has given birth to a baby boy.
The post read: “We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019.
“Their Royal Highnesses son weighs 7lbs 3oz. The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.
“More details will be shared in the forthcoming days”
Royal commentator Alistair Bruce told Sky News it is “really exciting for the Queen” and for the nation.
The birth has come just a couple of weeks before the royal couple will celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
Royal correspondent Rebecca English was unable to contain her excitement as she posted on Twitter: “Confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex went into labour in the early hours of the morning.
“We are expecting an announcement any moment now!”
