Fired Sesheke Cops Go To Court

Two police officers who were retired in national interest following the violence that occurred in Sesheke District during the parliamentary by-election have challenged the decision to relieve them of their duties.

Shapa Wakunguma and Fleming Chilongo want a declaratory order that Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja’s decision to retire them in national interest is illegal, unreasonable, procedurally improper and unconstitutional.

In their application for judicial review filed in the Lusaka High Court, the duo further seeks a court order to restrain the State from retiring them in national or public interest.
