27 Tenants In Lusaka’s Nyumba Yanga Face The Boot

| | ,

Some 27 sitting tenants of National Housing Authority – NHA flats in Lusaka’s Nyumba Yanga are faced with eviction following their failure to buy the houses.

The tenants, mostly retirees and widows, were served the eviction and sale notice in December last year.
The deadline for the sale of the flats was set for March 31 this year.

Information obtained reveals that some of the houses will be sold at K450 thousand to other customers.

One tenant Susan Nawila claims the initial plan with NHA was to rent the houses and later be offered to buy the properties, only to be faced with short eviction notices.

The tenants have since challenged NHA decision in the Lusaka High Court through an injunction. The matter comes up on April 15th2019.
